Season 4, round 9
(April 5th 2005)

eh vs hal²| (2-1)

The last match of the season turned out to be an exciting one!

We started on Speed with Gandos, Kiff and me against T!M, BigDaddy and sqrat. Hal2 shock-opened with 3 fast points, lead by T!M. We started with some slow rounds but worked our way up. Gandos soon started to drive consistently, while I was all over the place (this time it was a lot due to lags, so I need to change something before next season...). But Kiff and I were still a bit more consistent than sqrat and BigDaddy, and the match was soon leveled 3-3. On 5-4 to us I got a steering bug going into the last tunnel, being sure that the point was lost. But some kind of help from above made one of the hal2 drivers crash close to the end so I was able to secure to point. We also took the next point to win the map 7-4.

Next was snow, which I was looking forward to, as I had been doing well both online and ofline on that map. But practice and match with lags are very different things, as I was soon to discover on this map where I had to be very precise on some pieces to go fast. With that said, Hal was strong on this map, so even if I had been without lags and hopefully played at my best, they still could very well have won. The figt in front was mostly between Gandos, T!M and BigDaddy. domsch was also being quite consistent, giving Hal2 many points. Also a big GG to guom who played his first match for us. Considering the difficulty of the map he did a very fine debut. He got a couple of 3rd places, so well done!. In the end the score was 7-2.

Last we went on to rally. If Hal2 dominated the snow map, things more than turned for the rally. After 3-4 rounds I finally found myself. I kept driving well for the rest of the map. This was the first time in many weeks I've been able to do so, so I leave the season with a good feeling after several weeks of being TM-depressed (humm... let's not get too serious here :P). Gandos and I switched on winning the rounds, except for one by Nanteq (joined us for this map) and one for T!M. In most of the rounds I was fighting for the lead with Gandos and T!M. But in the last half of the map T!M usually made a few mistakes. BigDaddy and stef helped T!M and Hal2 to a couple of win, but in reality a eh win was never threatened. Final score: 7-2

So the elk hunters finish the season with a 2-1 (7-4, 2-7, 7-2) win. This gives us some extra energy for season 5. Something we needed after a season that started so well, but then started spiraling downwards both in results and performence.

I have to thank hal2 for a fun and fair match! T!M was very consistent on Speed and was the best player tonight. GG to him!

So goodbye to LE4 and we'll start waiting for LE5. Meanwhile we'll go back to what we do best, so all elks are hereby warned :P
