Season 4, round 5
(March 8th 2005)

eh vs [C-K] (3-0)

The 5th match of the season turned out to be an exciting one. It was almost as intence and tight as the one we played last week. We felt more confident this week though. Gandos is back from his vacation and we really wanted a win again.

We started on the desert map, which was another good map from Billiam. There were no very difficult sections, but we had to be precise all the way to do well.
The elk hunters played with me, Gandos and Echo, while C-K played with Carl, Nicof and Pikachu.

Carl won the first round, while we did many mistakes. 1-0 to C-K. We took the next point to even the score. This continued for the next six rounds: 2-1, 2-2 ... 4-4. For most of the rounds it was and intence fight between Carl, Gandos and me. Carl was the most consistent one, and won the most rounds. There were some problems with lags for many of the players, and this did affect the performence. As usually this did affected me much because I have to connect using TCP. Luckily this was on desert where it's easiest to handle lags. We also had a couple of visits from player who were very proud to announce that they broke the password. How very nice of them to almost destroy two of the rounds :P Next time the pass will be insane...

But back to the match: The next point went to us, and this was when the map turned. Both Gandos and me started getting a bit more consistent, and Echo also started doing some good rounds. Carl still kept his pace for the most part, but we got the points to take the map 7-5.

Next was snow. Kiff stepped in for Echo. Carl, MikaA and Lajibe played for C-K. As on the last map Carl, Gandos and I battled for the first place most of the round, but all of us made huge mistakes in some rounds. We took the first two rounds, but C-K didn't give up and soon it was 3-2. Then we decided we had enough with the lags (well... I decided I had had enough :P). The lags caused much more costly mistakes than on the desert map, so it was time to ask Nanteq to create a server.

When the match finally continued I had a couple of bad rounds, probably and afterburn from struggling with the lags earlier. But then Gandos and Kiff stepped up, so the score was 5-3 to us. Then I found myself again, and at the same time Carl started making more mistakes. The map went to us with 7-4.

Last we went on to rally. And this one was a bit like the desert map, with Carl, Gandos and me getting the first spots, but Carl being the most consistent. Nanteq was the 3rd driver on our team and Franz swithced with Lajibe. This map was a bit more one-sided than the two other maps. I think C-K got their points only when both Gandos and I messed up, hence the final score of 7-3.

Thanks for a very fun and tight match C-K. Also thanks for fair play about the server swithing ((-:{ GL in the next matches!
The "player of the match" trophy must definitively go to Carl!

The moment of the match for me was a round on snow were Gandos and I were side by side (on top of each other is probably more accurate...) for the whole map. At the finish line the difference between us was 2 hundreds on a pretty good time.

It was great to have Gandos back, and he was certainly the little extra we needed compared to the last match.
