Season 4, round 2
(February 15th 2005)

eh vs FRTMD (2-1)

The match started on Speed. During the warm up laps I got a very good feeling, while driving three 54 rounds. Also the elk hunters seemed to be faster than the FrTMDs in general. But experience told me not to get too confident, warm ups are after all just warm ups.

Then the match started. FrTMD with Dudujones, Stingray and Sirocco. eh with Gandos, Nanteq and me. We started well, with a 1-2-3 victory (Go guys!). Then we had to take a little break because Nanteq had forgot to set the server settings on alternate rules :P So we had to start the server again, and the FrTMDs were nice enough to let us get the point we won earlier, so a big thanks to them!

We won the next round too, with me and Gandos as number one and two. This was the normal scenario for the rest of the match. First at 6-0 FrTMD managed to get a point, mainly because of sloppier driving of us (I guess we lost focus a bit). This was also my worst round, with a 56.7x. We took the last round to wrap it up 7-1. I drove the first five rounds in 55, the last three in 56. Also great driving of Gandos, with many 55s. And also Nanteq had many good rounds (though also some nice crashes... lol). This was probably the best team play this team has ever had (including three seasons with =ACE=). I am very proud of the consistency of the team on this map. Especcially on a map with so many traps.

Next was rally. We stayed with the same team, while FrTMD exchanged two players (I think). Koss entered the game (sorry, don't remember number two). During the warm ups we did again feel confident. But then something happened with the two teams. We started making a lot of mistakes, and FrTMD were off to a 3-0 lead on decent rounds on 1.08 - 1.09. Then we started driving a bit better, especcially Gandos, while I and Nanteq were still driving slalom between the trees. Luckily FrTMD started smacking down some rocks too. I should also mention the fun sport castle jumping, which must be a high risk sport :P

Both teams got points in the next rounds, and on the score 5-4 to FrTMD the match was decided. Koss and me changed on leading all the way. I had the lead going down from the castle wall. But I made a small mistake, and we were side by side through the last corner and towards the finish. None of us knew who won untill we read the score:

1. Koss 1.07.48 2. AAssie 1.07.48

It's needless to say that FrTMD took the round on round points 6-5 to make the score 6-4. We tried to come back, and did indeed take the next round on the fastest round of the map (me 1.06 and Gandos 1.07), but it didn't help. FrTMD got the final point to make it 7-5 and tie up the match.

With the score tied at 1-1 before the last map, the mood was a bit tense. I was uncertain before this snow map, because it was quite technical, and I expected it to come down to which team would make less mistakes than the other team. The warm ups didn't tell much either, as all of us made huge mistakes.

FrTMD played with Doubfatch, Koss and Stingray. For us Nanteq left his place for Kiff, while taking replays and being a cheerleader for us :P

We got off to a good start, with Gandos (1.02.55) winning in front of Koss (1.02.57) and me (1.02.78) and Kiff in 1.04. And this was to be the red thread throughout this map: Koss was fighting with either Gandos, Kiff or me or two of us. As on speed, our consistency and team play was very good. And as on speed, we lost focus on 6-0, and FrTMD got their one point. In the next round we got the final point of the match.

So the elk hunters won it 2-1. Thanks for a fun match FrTMD. The rally was really exciting and intense! I wish you good luck and lots of fun for the rest of the season!

Aassie
