UL2 round 7: eh vs TOX
Here's the stadium report, as AAssie will cover desert and island later on :)
The second map of the evening was stadium. We knew before the game that TOX was strong, and the fact that we were the underdogs. Since we had several players (more the 3 for once :p ) avaiable for stadium, players driving this map were decided after a qualik. After a very close and intens qualik stadium drivers became: Hardk0re, Kanye and Sums. The stadium proves to be one of the tighest stadium map for eh in UL2, as there were tight fights through out the whole map. eh seems to make more mistakes then TOX, probably due to the pressure I think. But luckly when a eh players crashed, 2 other steped up and made the first 2 spots. Most rounds were from 56.xx to 58.xx from 1. place to 6th.
Most points came from 1-3-x and 2-3-5 for both teams. 2 times 1-2-6 for eh, we even had 1-2-3. I could smell burn tires all the way from free spec mode as the score was tied at 5-5. Then Hardk0re went hardcore and pushed himself down to a couple of 55.xx with Kanye and Sums close behind, TOX had no answer as they started to make mistakes. eh won at 7-5.
Good game to Sums who haven't competed in 6 months, and good game to Hardk0re and Kanye who played their first match for eh. You all did very well :)

Snow (Gandos, Mojave, AAssie): On this map we quickly realized we were the better team. Despite a map with some tricky spots, we only allowed the russian team one point. Good driving from all elk hunters.
Desert (Gandos, guom, AAssie): Also on this map eh was clearly the better team. I won most rounds, but when I made a crash G&g was there to save the day.
Coast (Mojave, guom, AAssie): As we expected both before and after the warmups, this was where we would have to drive very well to win. USSR, headed by Molot, proved to be much stronger on this map than on the other two. Molot won the first round, but eh finished 2-3-4 and got the point. In the next two rounds I crashed early, something USSR took advantage of to take the lead 2-1. Then I got my act together and had some intense fights with Molot for the win. Luckily for my and unlucky for Molot, or maybe because I pushed him very hard, he often made a mistake close to the finish. And in the rounds were I wasn't in front, Mojave quickly took my role. We took four points in a row before USSR reduced to 5-3. But now we were really getting focused and wasn't about to be stopped. We took the next two points on good team performence, and I finished by driving the best time of the day. We met some good opponents on this map, and I'm proud of how we managed to drive our very best when it really counted.
7-1, 7-0, 7-3
It was nice personally to be well trained for the first time this season and really be on top of my game again. But without the excellent performence of my team mates this win would have been a lot harder to accomplish :).
I think the team managed to give guom a great present on his birthday!

UL2 round 2: eh vs XR
UL2 round 2: eh vs XR[/size:0d7525da16][/color:0d7525da16]
This round we didn't have all the best players available, but we did our best with what we had against what turned out to be a very good opponent.
Stadium (Mojave, Rustray, AAssie): Sadly Razor came down with the flu just before the match, so the battle had to be fought by three stadium newbies. We were almost able to match our opponent's times, but we were not able to match their consistency. One of us crashed every round, and RX won 7-0.
Rally (guom, Gandos, AAssie): Here we got off to a good start and got the first point. Already in this round I saw that it would be an instense fight between me and Schandmaul for the 1. place. In the two following rounds I did slid off the start of the wooden section at the end of the track trying to catch him, and XR were in the lead. The remaining rounds continued in the same way, with Schandmaul and I winning every other round. Gandos was fighting hard to finish 3rd and succeded in some rounds. These were the rounds I finished 2nd of course :P. XR won the map 7-1 on being more consistent than us, but I think the score doesn't really reflect how close fights we had.
Bay (Mojave, Gandos, AAssie): We saved the thriller to the very end. On the warm ups we noticed that XR were very fast the first part of the track, but knowing how wicked the last half of the track could be we didn't think too much about it and focused on our own driving. XR took the lead, but then our predictions came through. XR kept leading the first half of the track, but they often tipped over, hit a fence or missed a jump and we were there to cruise in the points in our slow driving old geezer style. Mojave and Gandos was showing the way, while I made sure to leave some ground early on to be able to see all the nice crashes ;). But just when we felt we were in control at 5-3 and for once took the lead right from the start, the map showed how capricious it could be and gave us a spanking. XR were able to pull off some great team work while we started to struggle, and took back the lead 6-5. Then we managed to find some extra strength and tied the map at 6-6. In the last round I crashed early as always, got pissed at myself and crashed again before I though "oh well" and drove clean to the finish. Soon I passed one opponent, and at about 45 seconds I saw my name on the list when I passed the CPs. I guess the map flipped back in our favour again in the end, because we got the point and won the map 7-6.
We lost the match 2-1, but winning the last instense map in such a way almost made it seem like a victory. It's for such fights we play this game, so thanks for a great time XR.
