LE7 round 2: eh vs YS

Long awaited, but here is the report from the match.

This was the first match for eh this season, and it showed in the performences. The players were clearly a bit nervous. I had been feeling unwell all day, and my mind had taken a trip to outer space. This resulted in very inconsistent driving, which of course didn't calm down the nerves of my team mates. We also faced a well prepared and strong YS team.

The space avdenture started on the ice planet "The little things". The inhabitants had set some nasty bugs on their map, which may have decided who won, because this would turn out to be a thriller. eh had Wity, Dennis (his debut for eh) and me on this map, while YS had Flo, Turof and Roadster ready to attck. I had my best performence of the evening on this map, and I won about half the rounds. But unfortunately I was really inconsistent. And unfocused as I was that evening, I didn't pay enough tension to the details. I managed to get the flying jump bug three times while I was in the lead, which cost my team at least two points. Other players also got the bug, but not in that position. YS was well drilled as a team, and was more consistent than eh. They all made many good rounds, but from what I can remember, Flo was the player that grew the most towards the end of the map. YS took the lead 6-3 after consistent driving and lots of eh mistakes. eh reduced to 6-5, but then YS took the win 7-5.

The space shuttle now brought us to a classic grass planet. YS sent out their space drivers B.U.N.N.Y, Roadster and Eder to the track, where they met Nanteq, Wity and me. This map was about who made less mistakes. The teams followed each other to 4-4. Nanteq and I seemed to be the fastest out there, but we also crashed a lot. And not more than one little slide was needed before a couple of YS bullets flew by us. Wity jumped over all three YS drivers at the last jump in one of the rounds. This didn't help much when Nanteq and I finished last, but I'd say it was the play of the day Smile. I managed to get myself a little together in the last rounds of the map, and with my team mates on board eh took the map 7-5.

Our adventure had one final exciting planet to visit. This planet was dry, but we still had lots of excitement waiting for us. For YS Roadster, B.U.N.N.Y and Turof was competing against the eh players Philstar, Dennis and me. On this map the teams seemed to be a bit more unbalanced than on the other maps, with eh clearly having the fastest drivers. But the same drivers were also incredibly inconsistent, with me being the definition of inconsistency. I often had the lead before the tunnels, but with my head on the boundries of this dimension I usually crashed in the tight turns. For Dennis it was the opposite. He often made an early mistake, like jumping too far and crashing into the wall early on the map, before coming from behind to pass all in the tunnels. A true tunnel master Razz). Given that the teams had different speed and different consistency, most rounds were not that close. Either eh won clearly when they didn't crash, or YS won even clearer when eh bounced all over the map. The tension was still there between the rounds, because we never knew what was the likely outcome. In the end higher speed triumphed over consistency, and eh won 7-5.

With all rounds ending 7-5, this was truely a fantastic match. I think all players were thrilled after the match. Nanteq: "One of the most tense games I've played." Roadster: "it was always thrillin". Wity: "Nice close match. like it such matches:)". I wish my head had been down on earth so that I could have been as excited as you guys! Wink The match ended 2-1 to eh. Thanks YS for making this a night to remember!

AAssie
