SL1 Round 8: eh vs YS

This was the 2nd TMS meeting for these two teams, as they faced each other in the first match of the SL0 playoffs, were Yuconstar won 2-1. So the Elk Hunters were out for revenge this time. More importantly, they wanted to win to make sure there was no chance of relegation.

The whole thing started on Island at YS' request (not that eh opposed it, as they wanted it too Razz). YS with Eder, Turof and Roadster. eh with Kiff Nanteq and AAssie. Both Eder and Turof set personal best's during the rounds, and one round was won by Turof. But other than that this map was a Nanteq and AAssie show, with winning times varying from low 55's to low 56's. Kiff followed up nicely too. I don't know if my team was better or just more prepared (this map needed A LOT of training), but the result was nevertheless a 7-0 map win.

Then the fun moved on to Bay. Eder and Kiff left the game and Gandos and no1nose joined. This map was to be much closer, and many rounds were won 6-5 (2-3-5/1-3-6). This map belonged to Turof and Nanteq from the start. Nanteq made no big mistakes, while Turof made some in the later rounds. But while playing he set a PB (I think it was Turof, but it could be another YS player. You know my memory isn't too good Razz). I was often fighting in front, and won a couple of rounds, but this was not my bay day, and the mistakes were frequent. Luckily I was not alone in this, as mistakes by four out of the six players was normal each round. But when I wasn't there to back up Nanteq, Gandos stepped in and made things right. To YS' frustration, eh got the first two points, even though they didn't drive well. Then YS performed as a team and tied the score. But from then on out eh made just a little less mistakes than YS. This could be because they got better starts in the first tunnel than in the first rounds. The rest of the point went to eh, even though most rounds were very close.

Last we played Coast, which was to become the closest map of all. And that was a relief, because it's a real drag when one team is a lot better than the other on Coast lap maps when everything is decided on the other two. For once the map was good and not that hard, so that all players usually finished within 5 seconds of each other. Great map choice by the admins! This map started as the bay map, with a 2-0 lead to eh after a YS crash in the last turn (this was a hard one). Then YS fought back to a 3-2 lead, with Turof as the head YS. He set a good PB with 2.16. This map saw no less than personal best's by four players, because it was Gandos' and Nanteq's turn in the next round. eh again took the lead 4-3 in an exciting round where all players went back and forth in the field after small mistakes. Then eh wrapped it up 5-3 when I made set my best time on this map with a low 2.16.

Nanteq played his best match ever today and Gandos was great on coast. So when I didn't perform at my best on bay (I only got a 53.00 at best Rob Razz), it was so nice to lean back see it taken care of anyway. So congrats mates on a super match!

I agree with Turof that this was a very good and intense match on bay and coast. I think it was fun on Island too, but I understand his point of view. YS is a very fair and good team. Considering that they missed a player or two they did a good match! Next week both teams fight for the 5th place of D1 (only one map win separating the them), so GL against SFO YS!

Result: eh won 3-0 (7-0, 7-2, 5-3)

AAssie
