SL1 Round 5: eh vs RG

To our fortune Gandos came back from his vacation on Monday. Nanteq is still out, and without these two we are vulnerable. Against the mighty SL0 champions at least one of them was needed for us to make a good match. And I think it was a good one too, and with Nanteq there we could have won either Island or Bay (no, it's not only in my mind... Razz)

RG played with Rob, Vince and Sik on Coast. eh had guom, Gandos and me. We started on the lap map of the round because Kiff and OTRA was running late. I'm sorry to say this, but it was consesus among the 6 players who played, so I'll say it: What the **** were you thinking when you chose this map for the league Mazzy? It's by far the most boring map ever to be played in the league (including the LE series). And the CP's were so far apart that respawning = retire. Luckily I knew we had no chance against RG on this map, so we didn't practice very much (sorry RG, I hope you didn't practice too much either). Neo's round 3 map was heaven compared to this one Wink This map was an easy 5-0 win for RG, with only Gandos managing to follow the piglets from time to time. Rob made a good 2.29.

Then we mררררר'ed over to the bay map, which was yet another good map from one of the SFO brothers (their maps this season have been awesome!). OTRA and Rustray joined and Sik + guom left. RG took the first point, then we struck back to make it 1-1. The next two belonged to RG, as Rob got his engine running and his team mates followed. At the same time we crashed in some (stupid) corners. Then it was the elk hunters time to shine. I got some good runs and Gandos and Rustray followed up. Gandos and I put hard pressure on the RGs from the start, which caused our opponents to make mistakes (well, Rob was very consistent Wink). Then it was a simple task for Rustray to secure the point. Suddenly eh was in the lead 4-3! Then the tide turned again. I made an early mistake and then the RGs cruised to the finish. The last three rounds were close, but with a player like Rob who kept making low 52s and even a 51, RG won 7-4. Interestingly enough, both Vince and I were on our way to pbs on the last round, and both crashed in the last half Razz Razz

Last we played the Island map. I won't comment on it for obvious reasons Razz. There were some very good rounds on this map too, and it was often close. I got off to a killer start on this map, with a 1.03.3x-1.02.8x-1.03.1x series on the three first laps. Nevertheless, eh only got one point and RG lead 2-1. In the next round I slid around the cement turn and lost a second. At the same time Vince began to find his rythm. I still finished 2nd, but Rob and OTRA made sure RG won the point. Then I made another mistake, while Gandos got a good run. However, all the others also made mistakes and I finished 2nd to secure the point. At this point I think I got just a little bit cocky after my good rounds, and started commit stupid mistakes. Rob started to make some occasional crash free runs, while OTRA just lurked behind waiting for eh mistakes. Gandos made some good runs, but seemed to be a little rusty after three weeks away from TMS (who can blame him Wink). Kiff didn't have his best day either... On the last round Vince finally made his 1.02.9x (well, he did 1.02.74 on the first WU, but sorry dude, that doesn't count Razz). I made a perfect 360 on the last jump, got a little too high, then crashed into the finish and made a beautiful backflip before crossing the line (I should have saved that one). Come to think of it, I made a nice backflip at the finish line on the last round on bay too... lol. The map ended 7-2 to RG.

We had a fun match and there were at times high quality racing and lots of animal sounds at the barn. I hope both teams can play with a full squad next time we meet (I know you missed a couple of players too). Congrats on a good win guys!

Mרררררררררררררררר and gryyyyynt (groooouik)!!

AAssie
