eh vs SFO: 1-2
In this match we met the only team we lost to in the SL0 regular season, so this was a chance for revenge.
We started on Coast, where we knew SFO were good. And they lived up to their reputation. They didn't do fantastic times, but they were sooo consistent, with most rounds won in 56. Only Gandos was able to match that on our team. I was on that level during the warm ups, but when the match started something said *POFF* in my head, and I crashed a lot. The same was happening with guom. Maybe it was first round nerves or the pressure SFO's consistency put on us, I don't know. SFO rolled in to an easy 7-1 victory.
Then we went on to Bay, with Nanteq replacing guom. SFO again started well, with nice consistency, while we made mistakes, and quickly gained a 2-0 lead. Then Nanteq and Gandos took 1st and 3rd so that I only had to finish to give us the point. From that point on I stopped fumbling around too, and together with my team mates we took one point after another. SFO seemed to feel the pressure and made more and more mistakes. They only managed one point after that, giving the Elk Hunters the map 7-3.
The real thriller was saved for last, as we went on to the Island lap map. This map, with it's high speed and tricky quarter pipes required presicion and focus, something that both teams had problems with. SFO got off to a great start, with Phoenix setting the standard with a 1.51. Kiff and Nanteq drove well in the next round to even the score. Then SFO won again. Then I finally stopped crashing so much and made a good run with 1.50. 2-2. Next Nanteq barely beat me to make it 3-2. Then I drove another good round, but what can I do when three SFO's breathe down my neck? 3-3. Then we took the lead after Nanteq passed two farmers on the last lap. 4-3. In the next round Nanteq and I was on our way to make 2-3, but I got too eager at the end and crashed. It didn't matter though, as Kiff drove like a llama 4-4!!!
On the last round SFO showed good consistency, while we crashed A LOT!!! So SFO took the decisive point to win the map 5-4.
We were soooo close to get our revenge (arrrrrrrrrfffff)! Even worse; we lost our perfect Island record
Congrats SFO! This was just as intense as we expected it to be. You are a great team, and will no doubt finish high up in the table at the end of the season!! GG!!
