SL0 Playoffs Round 1: eh vs YS

Finally I have some time to say a little about this match. It was a fun and intense one, with some intense and good duels, and many mistakes. We had to play this match on one days notice, which was not really enough to learn the maps well. We had no chance of coming up with enough players the other two days before the limit. We also missed Nanteq, the author of the Island map. He has showed some great form in the last couple of weeks, and would have played at least two maps for us. We also missed guom, a regular on Coast. But to be fair, I think YS also missed some players, so a big thanks to them for being able to play on so short notice!

We started on the Bay map. This was a nice and fun map to drive. But why do the admins accept a map with so many boosters the wrong way. If you crash a little and lose your speed, you can’t get across these boosters and have to respawn with a huge time loss. I thought a bit about this, and realised it must be because Mazzy needs help braking Razz Razz The elk hunters started with Rustray, Gandos and me, YS with Roadster, Eder and Turof. We got off to a great start and got a 2-0 lead. The only problem was that we won the rounds with bad times and because of YS mistakes. I think the winning time of round 1 was 1.03 or something… From then on, we had for the most part this scenario: An eh player fighting for the lead with two YS players. A little behind them we would find the other three fighting for 4th place. For us it was often Gandos up front, but we shared nicely (meaning we seldom drove well in the same round). I did not have a good match. I had a head ache all day, and was quite dizzy during the match.

On the other hand, when you don’t play well, you see a lot more action. One time Gandos had a pretty clear lead, but he jumped a little too short on the last long jump and hit the edge. This of course ended with a flip, loss of speed and 3 players passing him. Another time Rustray, me and one of the YS drivers missed the finish at the same time!

Next we played Coast. This was the lap map, and was supposed to be played last. But since YS had a player that needed to go early, we played it as the second map (we were happy that we were able to play the map). Kiff switched places with Rustray and No1nose stepped in for Turof. This map was quite different from the other coast maps played this season. It had a lot of sharp turns and was quite slow-paced. With my dizzy head, this was a bad combination. My performance was like a nightmare, and I should apologize to my team for that. In front Gandos and Roadster fought for the win in most rounds. The rest of us followed a little behind. But Kiff and I made mistakes more often than the YS players, and YS won round after round. After the 4th round I could barely see the screen, so I had to ask for a small break to splash some water in my face. IT HELPED…. for about one and a half lap… YS deserved the win 5-0, and GG to them! But eh drove so tragically that just about everyone could have beaten us…

Last, we went on to Island, which was to be a thriller. The same team stayed for eh, while YS exchanged No1nose and Roadster with Reb!rth and Turof. All the rounds were tight. Gandos and Turof made the best times, but all players had both good and bad rounds. Each team won just about every other round, and the score went to 6-6 and an exciting last round. Gandos and I made mistakes early on, while Kiff had a nice lead. For a while YS seemed to be heading for the win on this map too, but late crashes let me pass two of them and we won the map 7-6. YEAH!! We are still unbeaten on Island!

GG to YS for a fair and fun match! And we are happy you were able to play the match on so short notice. Have fun in the semi final!

For us the season is now over, and this first Sunrise season was a lot of fun!!!

AAssie
