LE5: eh vs cC

The matches between the elk hunters and the crazy cars have been a classic of the league. They are usually very tight, and often not decided before 6-6 on the last map. This match turned out to be no different. The tension, the fun, the close fights, the maps, the fair play; all was like the good old days.

We started on rally. Rally maps with cC bring back mixed feelings. It was on rally against cC I won my very first round in a league match back in season 1. On the other hand, cC swept the floor with us in season 3 cC played with Smallboy, dup and Benz. Gandos, Nanteq and I drove the eh cars. Round 1 started with a fight between Gandos and me for the 1st spot, while Benz followed in 3rd. Gandos did the castle part better than me and won. The same thing happened in the next round. I made a small mistake on the wall and Gandos passed me. In the 3rd round eh did a 1-2-3 after mistakes by the cC players. In the round after I missed the cut off the wall to hand the victory to Gandos. This time we were followed by Smallboy. Nanteq pushed the no-no button and asked us not to care about him. Well… we didn’t In round 5 I finally managed to keep Gandos behind me all the way to the finish. I got another victory in the next round as Gandos made a mistake. In the 7th round Gandos was back on top and cC got their only 2nd place of the map by Benz after a huge mistake by me. The elk hunters won this map quite easily 7-0 and I think it was a sweet revenge after the LE3 roadkill

Then we went over to the snow map, which I didn’t race. Gandos, Kiff and guom played for eh and dup, sb and Kaly played for cC. As usual Gandos was great and won almost every round. But he didn’t get much help from the other hunters I’m afraid. As guom said : “I played the worst match of my life.” cC played well as a team on this map and took 2-3-4 in most of the rounds. Too bad we left the old scoring system behind us back in season one . In the end cC took the map 7-3. Congrats!

So after two rounds the score was tied at 1-1. And to finish off this classic we drove a speed map from LE1. cC played with Smallboy, dup and clash. eh played with Kiff, Gandos and me. The first round was won by clash in a close fight with Kiff. A bit behind I took the third place. Gandos ended up on the roof in the middle of the round, and the two other cC players secured the point. In the next round clash won again, followed by me. Smallboy and dup missed the finish and had to respawn. Kiff got the 3rd spot. Gandos caught dup on the finish line flying backwards flipping and spinning to give eh the point. We were lucky here, but justice was soon to be done…

In the third round Clash ran away in front again followed by Gandos and me a bit behind. It was at this time clash began shouting happy phrases like: “I love this track!” and “This reminds me of the good old tm times”. Smallboy and dup took the 4th and 5th spot to give cC the point. In the next round Gandos and Clash had an intense fight which was not decided before the grid turn at the end where Gandos slid. I caught him at the finish only to miss it, causing eh to miss the point. But dup also missed the 5th spot with a similar mistake, so I guess cC deserved the point. In the next round clash was followed by the eh team. Then we arrived at the last jump, and this time it was Gandos’ turn to mess up and give away a point. At this point cC had a 4-1 lead. The 6th and 7th round developed the same way, but this time we managed to finish 2-3-4 to get the points.

In the next round Clash didn’t win! He crashed at the finish I won in front of Gandos to make it 4-4. cC then took back the lead. Next Gandos made a superb round and won in front of clash, both in 1.18. I took the 3rd spot in front of Kiff. Then I got another win in front of Gandos, of course because clash crashed on the last jump again. But this was a round of a lot of mistakes. I think this was the only round clash actually made a mistake that could not be blamed on the last, random jump. He was simply amazing on this map! cC came back to make it 6-6, partly because I did some terrible driving. Once again a match between these two teams was to be decided in the very last round. And it was a symptomatic round for the map. Clash was a speeding bullet in front, followed by Gandos, Kiff and me. And just when I thought we’d make it, guess what happened? I lost control on the last jump. I tried to brake, but it was too late and I crashed. The two other cC cars flew by me, and a bad feeling was rising from my stomach. Luckily for me, dup crashed into the finish (not so lucky for him I guess ), and had to respawn. eh wins the last map 7-6 to win the thrilling match 2-1.

This was another great match between the two teams. Great fun as always! I’m looking forward to the next time we clash together!
