Round 1: eh vs hors
We were all excited in front of this first Sunrise match. My team had practiced and was well prepared. Still we didn't know what to expect from our opponent. Joebar was playing for Hors Service, and knowing his skills on TM Classic, we were feared the worst.
We started on Coast. This was my request because didn't play this map and I had to finish my pizza
hors played with Joebar, Mam and Nard (I think). These drivers played the other two maps too. The elk hunters started with Gandos, guom and Kiff. This was the first map guom had qualified for since joining the team, so a huge GG to him! A nice proof that Sunrise offers new opportunities. From the reports I got from Nanteq (he hosted the match), this map was very one-sided. Apparently guom ruled the map. But Gandos had a 1.03 lap, so I guess guom wasn't alone up there The map ended 10-0 to eh. I'm sorry I couldn't give more detailed info, but I didn't play this map...
The second map was Bay. This was my favourite map of the round. Rustray and I entered the game and Gandos and guom took a well deserved break. I started my Sunrise league career by driving off the track in the first round. Still Kiff and Rustray took 1st and 3rd place so I only had to secure the point. Joebar came between the two hunters. The next three rounds were mine, mostly battling with Joebar. Kiff and Rustray also drove very well and we were leading 4-0. From this point on I lost some of my focus, and was very consistent (I think I arrived at the finish in all six positions during the reminding rounds). Rustray and Kiff kept up their consistency, in fact I think they performed better. And even though Joebar, Mam and Nard all had good rounds, they only managed to score one point. It has to be said that they were unlucky and missed a couple of points because of some bad jumps at the end of the track. More than once did I come from behind to pass two hors drivers in the two last turns... In the end we won the map 10-1. To be fair I think the rounds were closer than this score suggests, and this was clearly the tightest map. Also congrats to Rustray for a very good performence in his first match for us!
The last map, also known as the "lap map" was played on the Island environment. Gandos came back to join Kiff and me. The first three rounds we dominated completely, with good and persistent driving. Then I lost my focus again, and the same thing happened as on the map before. Maybe it was the dominance, maybe it was because I was saving replays. But it didn't matter much, because Gandos and Kiff were awesome in front, with times around 1.14-1.15. Gandos even had a 1.13. In the end we won this map 7-0.
The final score was 3-0 (27-1) to the elk hunters!
Retrospectively I think we had trained more than hors for this match. The first hunt of the season went very well, and I hope we will continue with this kind of performence. Thanks to hors for a fun match. I hope your next match goes better for you!
