2006 was the year of TrackMania. The game was part of the Video Games World Cup held in Bercy (Paris) where 40 national champions from around the world battled for the coveted title of Best Driver. TrackMania is a worldwide success with titles in the franchise having been downloaded more than 20 million times.

By providing a host of new innovations, including a system for resource sharing and exchange, in-game downloads, online records, virtual money, peer-to-peer online connectivity and a welcoming online community, TrackMania United will be the inspiration for tomorrow's interactive and online video game experience.

The immense single-player campaign includes three game modes and nearly 200 new tracks. Drive at mind-blowing speeds on today's most spectacular tracks full of outrageous jumps, loops, ramps, turbo boosts, hairpin turns and other crazy track designs.

A massive amount of content is available in TrackMania United, as the game brings together the seven environments offered in Sunrise, Original and Nations. Each TrackMania environment has its own look and feel, terrain, vehicle choices and driving techniques. All the environments benefit from new features, design elements and general improvements. "Stadium," the newest environment, benefits from a total makeover with a lighting system, new design blocks and environmental effects.

Like its predecessors, TrackMania United offers a variety of amazing content creation tools that increase the game's replay value. The well-known track editor allows anyone to make their own tracks from a selection of more than 1,000 construction blocks, and then share these tracks in single- or multiplayer modes. In addition to the track editor, a video editing studio lets players create race and stunt videos that can be shared in a variety of video file formats, which allows for open distribution. Last but not least, the paint workshop lets players customise each vehicle's appearance with decals, paints and other visual enhancements.

More than ever before, TrackMania United is multiplayer gaming heaven as gamers now have the possibility of playing any in any of the existing TrackMania environments. More than 100,000 tracks created by players are already available on the Internet and will keep players racing for a near limitless amount of time.

About the Elk Hunters

Elk Hunters (eh) is a multinational trackmania racing team, founded by the three remaining members of a the team called Auto Cars Extreme (=ACE=). =ACE= participated in the first three 3vs3 leagues on Trackmania Original organized by Electronic Tournaments. When several key players had to leave in the fall of 2004, the remaining players had to consider what to do. We decided to change the team name to Elk Hunters, which was an internal joke and nickname given to the Norwegian drivers in the team by the =ACE= team leader Jason. Kiff started this website and AAssie started organizing the team. We recruited some new players and started on a team video project and new skins to get everyone involved in the team. We had a lot of fun with these projects, and it was a small team with good chemistry that entered the fourth season of the 3vs3 league (LE4) in division 2 (out of 4). It started very well, but at the end we had to see us beaten by a couple of teams.

In April 2005 a game from Nadeo arrived, called Trackmania Sunrise. All but one of the team members bought the game, and we registered for the first Trackmania Sunrise league (SL0). In our group (which was drawn), we only lost one match (2-1) to a french team called SFO, a team we later have met in very close matches on several occasions. At the same time as SL0 ran, we played LE5 on TMO for fun and got a decent position.

Our performence in SL0 qualified us for division 1 in SL1 in the fall of 2005. We started it by losing by the most narrow of margins to SFO. Then, in the other matches in the first half of the season two of our main drivers, Gandos and Nanteq missed several matches, and we only won one out of our first five matches. When they where both back in the last half of the season we climbed rapidly on the table by winning all the matches and finishing 5th out of ten teams. After this league finished, we continued with LE6 for Trackmania Original. For this edition we were inforced by some new players, and entered division 1. This time we took everyone with storm and was leading the league untill we met SFO in one of the last matches. They won, but we finished 2nd in LE6, which is an achievement we are very proud of.

At the same time LE6 ran, we also played the SL1 cup, where all the SL1 teams participated. In the quarter finals we beat our rivals SFO. We reached the final were we met the German team Kampf Orangen (KO). This was a high quality match. eh lost the first map, but came back and won the second map 7-6. On the third and final map the match was decided, and eh could celebrate a great triumph!

In early spring 2006 we played SL2, which included one map each week from the new free game Trackmania Nations. Some key players did not have time to play this league, so we had to recruit some new players. We decided to play in division 2 so we would not get slaughtered. This was a good move and we played many close matches. At the end of the season we ended up winning just as many maps as we lost. At same time we played the LE6 cup, were we got knocked out early on by SFO.

Before the summer break there was also time to play LE7. Here we started very well, and managed to beat SFO 2-1 as the first team in a long time. Unfortunately we got burned a short time later when we faced a lower ranked team. Thus, we finished just 2nd behind SFO in this edition of the league too. Meanwhile we also played the SL2 cup. Again we met SFO (winners of SL2), this time in round 3. We crushed them on the first map and gave them some good competition on the second map, but on the third map they were too strong and beat us.

In fall of 2006 the team are participating in SL3 under much of the same conditions as in SL2. guom has taken over the site administration and made some improvements to the site. Later we will enter LE8 with an inforced and very hungry squad who are very hungry to win the title! We are also planning to enter the upcoming Nordic Trackmania Nations league by Trackmania.no Elk Hunters have or have had members from 7 countries (Norway, Sweden, England, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy), which makes us the most international team to participate in Electronic Tournaments' leagues.
